Tarapith
is a Hindu pilgrimage town in Birbhum district, West Bengal, famous for its Tantric goddess Tara temple and adjacent cremation ground (Maha Sasan), which is considered one of the 51 Shakti Pithas. It is a major center for Tantric spiritual practices and rituals, with the temple dedicated to Goddess Tara, who is believed to be the divine manifestation of the third eye of Sati.
