The Jowo Shakyamuni Rinpoche

The Jowo Shakyamuni Rinpoche The Jowo Shakyamuni Rinpoche was transported to Tibet by the Tang China princess Wencheng, and is a large 7th century statue of Gautama Buddha for which the Ramoche was constructed. 

Established: 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo

Main Statue: 2500 years old statue of Jowo Shakyamuni consecrated by the historical Buddha

Location: in the heart of Lhasa, the Old Town
