COMPASSIONATE ACTION Chatral Rinpoche

According to Tibetan Buddhist astrology, we are in “the age of residues” where only traces of the virtue of the “golden age” remain. These troubled times are marked by war, disease, natural disasters, rampant drug use and disrespect towards spirituality. Guru Padmasambhava saw all of this coming and that is why he came up with his terma system of concealing teachings to be discovered by the reincarnations of his twenty-five disciples — called tertons or treasure-revealers — at the appropriate time for these teachings to help the beings of that generation. Tulku Thondup explains, “[Guru Rinpoche] gave the Mind-mandate Transmission of the teachings [to his core group of disciples] and recognized them as his own regents and blessed them to tame the beings of the end-age.”

His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

When the visualization of Chenrezi becomes clear and stable, visualize light rays radiating out from his body in each of the ten directions, making offerings to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the innumerable Buddhafields. These rays of light return, carrying the blessings of all the enlightened ones, and dissolve back into Chenrezi, who becomes even more brilliant and resplendent. Once again, he emanates rays of light, which this time reach out to all beings, dispelling their suffering, establishing them in the wisdom of great bliss, and transforming them into male and female Bodhisattvas and the whole universe into a perfect Buddha-field.
