The kolovrat ("spoked wheel")

is a symbol of the supreme God in Rodnovery (Slavic Native Faith), Rod and its manifestations (Svarog, Perun, Svetovit and all the other gods). Kolo means "wheel", and its vrat ("spokes") are spinning. It is a symbol of spiritual and therefore secular power.

Jowo Wati Sangpo is a self-manifested sandalwood statue of Lord Avalokiteshvara. This image is popularly known as Kyirong Jowo. Since the historic upheaval of Tibet in mid-20th century countless sacred statues of enlightened beings, scriptures and other artefacts have escaped into exile in India and other parts of the world. This statue of the Deity of Compassion stand out amongst all of them for several reason: 1. Because of its connection with King Songtsen Gampo (7th cent.) it has the longest history and is the oldest statue. 2. Because of its close and deep connection with His Holiness the Dalai Lamas, it is a most blessed and revered icon of Avalokiteshvara in exile. 3. It is perhaps the largest statues that has reached in exile without any damage, and 4. being an image of Avalokiteshvara it has a special affinity with Tibet and Himalaya people and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to pray and make offerings to him.

Khandro Tsering Kunga Bum-ma (Most Esteemed Khadro-la)

Khandrola: There is no end to the suffering in the world because sentient beings voluntarily engage in creating the causes of suffering and therefore suffering arises, again and again without limit. 

For an ordained person the way of helping other people is not just by giving food and clothing and shelter and those kinds of things but primarily by meditating on bodhicitta and the wisdom realising emptiness. Ultimately, except for generating bodhicitta and the wisdom realising emptiness, we can’t directly or manifestly benefit sentient beings. Other ways of benefitting sentient beings are just temporary or adventitious. 

We have to think about the suffering of the six kinds of migratory beings and try to eliminate that just as we protect our own eyes. We are very careful to protect our own eyes. Likewiese, regarding the sufferings of sentient beings, we have to continually observe whether we are doing something to help reduce that by generating in our own continuum at all times, renunciation, bodhicitta and the wisdom realising emptiness, and try to continually generate those realisations

FOUR KINDS OF ATTACHMENT 

The four snakes in this picture represent four kinds of attachment: 

1.kämupädäna (grasping arising from sense desires)

2.ditthupädäna (grasping at views philosophical and theological)

3. sīlabbatupädäna (grasping at belief in the efficacy of rites and vows)

4. attavādupädäna (grasping at belief in a soul theory). 

Any manner of attachment is, of course, the result of ignorance and like the entwinement of a snake. (It is noteworthy that these four graspings are shown by snakes looped and wound about each other indicating that all the graspings are interrelated. They illustrate very well the sense of being bound by or tied down to the ordinary round of life.)

Lotus Sutra mantra

The Japanese phrase Namu-myoho-renge-kyo literally means “I take refuge in the Lotus of the Wonderful Law.” Chanting daimoku is the principal practice of all Nichiren Buddhists. By reciting this mantra practitioners endeavor to change their karma, overcoming obstacles to success or happiness.

Master Padma said: If you train your mind in love, compassion, and Bodhicitta, you will not take rebirth in the three lower realms.

 Moreover, from this very moment you will never fall back. This alone is my oral instruction. Wherever you go, keep Bodhicitta in mind, never departing from its company. Whatever action you engage in, train in doing it for the benefit of sentient beings.

 Train in regarding others as more important than yourself. You will attain numerous qualities as a result of this training, such as having unimpaired samayas and vows.

If one is very stingy, and doesn’t practice much generosity, even if you perform the practice of Dzambhala, the wealth-giving Buddha, many times, it can take a long time for success to come. In daily life, practice whatever generosity you can, like when you meet beggars: just give whatever you can. It doesn’t only have to be beggars on the street, it can be anybody. When people come to your house, offer them food and drink, and so forth. Use that opportunity to practice Dharma by practicing charity.

 Especially make offerings to other students of your gurus, thinking they are the same as your gurus. This creates so much merit, much more than making offerings to the buddhas of the three times, to the Dharma, and Sangha, and to the numberless statues, scriptures, and thangkas that exist throughout other universes. You can do this in many different ways. Besides offering money, give where there is a great need for charity.

Thiruvarutprakasa Vallalār Chidambaram Ramalingam (5 October 1823 – 30 January 1874), also known as Vallalār, Ramalinga Swamigal and Ramalinga Adigal, was one of the known Tamil saints and a notable Tamil poet of the 19th century. He belongs to a line of Tamil saints known as "gnana siddhars" (gnana means 'higher wisdom').[

No matter whether young or old, there is no one who doesn't have to die. And besides Buddha-dharma, there is nothing else that can help us during our death. No matter whether we posses a human's life or an animal's life - by having commited the non-virtuous actions and afflictive emotions since beginning less eons, we are all continuous wanderers in the three samsaric existence. Therefore, we have to think ideally and be able to seek out our own purposes once we have obtained a human's life endowed with the eighteeen favorable conditions.
