HH PENOR RINPOCHE

There is a saying in our native place, "If we recite the Mani mantra when someone dies, then one will get a horse for each recitation", as proclaimed, there is immense benefit during the intermediate state. It seems easy to recite "OM MA NI PAD ME HUNG!" isn't it?

If we think properly, it is extremely powerful. Since it is the time of flourishing the Dharma of Avalokiteshvara, it is easy for us to recite the mantra or hear it from others as well. In the other eons, hardly we can hear a word of his mantra. Thus, think deeply, and don't divert your mouth and eyes everywhere while reciting these profound mantras. Especially, lamas and monks should know all about the points of acceptance and rejection of reciting mantras. There are many laypeople who don't know much about this. Even if one doesn't understand the benefits and meanings of reciting mantras, it's very crucial to recite and practise it with the positive attitude.

His Holiness The 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje

The Karmapa reminded those gathered that because everything is impermanent, we have the opportunity to change in every second, every minute, and every hour.

“If things weren’t impermanent then the old situation would just continue and there would be no chance for change. But because things are impermanent we are able to improve. Impermanence gives us room for hope.”

His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

We should constantly keep in mind that Guru Rinpoche is our sole refuge, whether in happiness or in sorrow, whether in the higher realms of samsara or the lower. Without any second thoughts, we should give our whole mind to him, like throwing a pebble into a lake.

The era in which we now live is known as the "Age of Five Degenerations." Our lifespan is shorter than it was in the Golden Age; this is the degeneration of life. Also, it is very rare to find someone who practices the Dharma and whose behavior really accords with it; this is the degeneration of karma, or activity. This world of ours is constantly stricken by wars, famine, and disease, and there is but little hope of peace and happiness; this is the degeneration of the times. All the while, the root causes of this general degeneration are the intense emotions that plague beings: hatred, desire, misjudgment, pride, and envy; this is the degeneration linked with emotions. Finally, beings even turn their back on the Dharma; this is the degeneration of the view.
