Saturn Jayanti tomorrow may 30th

Tomorrow
Shani Jayanti 2022 : Shani Dev, the Lord of Justice. Shani dev ( Saturn ) has a special place among nine main planets. Shani Jayanti is also known as Shani Amavasya. Shani Jayanti is observed in Krishna Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. This year, Shani Jayanti will be celebrated on Monday, 30th May 2022.
Doyō (Sanskrit: Shanaishchara), or the planet Saturn, is one of the Nine Luminaries (Sanskrit: Navagraha) of the stellar system as originally defined in early Indian texts that were later incorporated into Buddhism. In China, Buddhist understandings of the heavens were intertwined with Daoist beliefs. Here, the planet is illustrated as an old man with a bull’s head atop his own, dressed in a flowing robe. Now mounted as a hanging scroll, the iconographic drawing once formed part of a handscroll including representations of other celestial bodies.

Here is another example for someone who lacks faith. Let’s say that we tell them about how the American lifestyle is, about the beautiful houses and gadgets and so forth. That other person might reply, “I don’t believe you. I’ve never been there and seen them, so these things cannot exist. You’re lying: whatever I haven’t seen doesn’t exist.” This may sound absurd, but many, many people have said, “I don’t see any buddhafields, so they don’t exist. I don’t see any hell realms, so there are no such places.” The reason I do not think this way is that I trust in my main teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni. He could clearly perceive the three times and see the six realms of sentient beings and all the buddhafields in every direction. Because of the depth and profundity of his wisdom, I consider everything he said to be utterly and flawlessly true. Between Buddha Shakyamuni and myself there has been a lineage of great masters in whom I also have total trust. This trust extends all the way to my root guru, in whom I have complete faith from the very core of my heart. I have total confidence in all these beings; I don’t feel that any one of them ever told a lie. Since Buddha Shakyamuni there have been countless other practitioners who have had that same trust and confidence in the teachings of the enlightened ones. Through these qualities they were able to attain great accomplishment. They could fly through the sky, pass through solid matter and reach complete enlightenment in a single lifetime.

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

What is your happy dream? I asked this question of a man I once met in California. Several years earlier he had quit an excellent job at a high-tech company in Silicon Valley. He had been reading books about emptiness and had come to the conclusion that his job was empty—empty of meaning, of value—and that the workplace, the status, the money, these things too were essentially empty. He decided that his life had no meaning, and he quit to do something that he had always wanted to do: become a painter. He spoke in an earnest manner, often bringing his hand to his mouth, as if checking on the accuracy of his words. His hair and beard were turning from black to gray, and he was dressed casually, but carefully. For several years he had worked in his studio making art and had led a rewarding life. Then he had attended teachings that I was giving on emptiness. After one session, he asked to speak with me. I like these emptiness teachings, he told me, but there is one problem. Before, I read books about emptiness, and I saw that my job was emptiness so I let go of it. I really like making art, but after listening to you today, I see that even my art is emptiness. Now maybe I need to let go of my artwork, but if I do that, I will have no money. I told him, Emptiness doesn’t mean nothing. He was quite shocked. I told him, Everything comes from emptiness. It is full of alive potential, full of possibility.

“Chinese authorities always try to destroy our religion and language as they believe that these are the root cause that separates Tibet from China. The prayers of most of the self-immolators were for the return of His Holiness to Tibet and the preservation of our unique culture and religion, therefore preserving Buddhism by studying and understanding its true meaning and promoting it by teaching it to the world is the greatest contribution one can give to Tibet and its people.”

To have wealth and property is normally thought of as desirable, but attachment to them is actually an obstacle on your spiritual path. So someone who deprives you of your money and possessions is, in fact, freeing you from the fetters these things have created in your mind, and is preventing you from falling to the lower realms. You should feel nothing but gratitude.

If you own nothing at all, you are free. No enemies or thieves will bother you. As the saying goes: If you have no wealth, thieves won't break in. If you carry no bags, robbers won't lie in wait.

It is important to remember that if you lose everything you possess, it can only be the karmic result of your having deprived others of their possessions in the past. There is therefore no reason to feel angry with anyone other than yourself. Seen from that point of view, is it not you who are attracting enemies with your wealth, fame, and rank? If there were no target, there would be nothing at which to shoot arrows. As a result of negative actions in your past lives, you have set yourself up as a target at which the arrows of suffering are now being shot.

In order to cut the root of saṃsāra, one needs both calm abiding and special insight. For example, if you want to cut down a tree, you need a sharp axe that will cut it directly, but it is not sufficient just to have the axe. You also need a strong, steady shoulder to swing the axe. Likewise, special insight is like the axe that directly cuts the root of saṃsāra, and calm abiding is like the steady shoulder that swings it.

If you do not implement the teachings, your destructive emotions and self clinging will not diminish, and the Dharma instructions will be of no use to you, no matter how many you receive.
