Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche

The law of karma is very, very subtle and very, very strict, no corruption.  Whether one is very rich or a great philosopher or a very great doctor or a very great scientist or a very great modern technologist, whoever, there is no corruption of the karma.  Whatever you have done, you will have to bear it.  What you have not done, there is no way that you can experience it.  Even if you wished to experience it, there is no way to do it.  It is very, very subtle and very strict, and it has very good justice.

H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche

Today marks the 17th anniversary of the passing of H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche,
Every thought that appears in our minds may seem vivid and real to us, but upon further examination, we would find that it is momentary, arising and ceasing at the same moment. Its essence is unattainable, like empty space.

The Lion's Roar

“The lion”—this, monks, is a name for the Tathagata, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One. When, monks, the Tathagata expounds the Dhamma in an assembly, that is his lion’s roar.

Understanding faults of Samsara
~~ Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche

When contemplating the faults of samsara, we need to understand that in samsara, as we explained, there is some enjoyment, some peace, which distracts our minds and keeps us from having any accumulation of merit or purification.  It is just like in Christianity: In the beginning, God said there is a very nice apple tree, but you should not get distracted and eat of it. If you do, then you will get spoiled.  By not listening to that and eating the apple, all evil and bad things happened.  Just like that, in this world there are certain things that really feel attractive, but when you look at the object of attraction and really examine it deeply, there is nothing attractive.  It is all just like a magician’s creation which looks very real, but when you approach it, then you see that it is artificial with no essence.

The sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje

The sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (August 14, 1924 – November 5, 1981)

Even in Rumtek, during the rainy season, we would find creatures. Sometimes monks would find snakes. Then His Holiness would tell the monks to bring the snakes and he would keep them. Later, he would set them free. Same with frogs. After blessings, prayers, he would set them free. Karmapa had utter confidence in the basic potential of all beings. The Buddhist tradition says that all beings without exception are endowed with “yeshe nyingpo” or “buddhanature.”

HH Ogyen Trinley Dorje

One of our most important challenges in life is to remain mindful of who we are and what we are doing. To keep this awareness present all the time is a great support for spiritual growth. One aspect of a spiritual life is to live consciously. For that, we need to be as fully aware as possible. Without mindfulness, we end up sleepwalking through life. We act without realizing what we are doing. –

HH 14th Dalai Lama

The Buddha himself said, “O monks and wise ones, do not accept my words simply out of reverence. You should subject them to critical analysis and accept them on the basis of your own understanding.” This remarkable statement has many implications. It is clear that the Buddha is telling us that when we read a text, we should rely not merely on the fame of the author but rather on the content. And when grappling with the content, we should rely on the subject matter and the meaning rather than on the literary style.

H H Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

The literal meaning of guru yoga is ‘union with the teacher´s nature’. To blend your mind with the teacher’s mind is the most profound of all practices, and the shortest path of realization. It is the life force of the path and the one practice that includes all others. It was through relying on a spiritual teacher that all the bodhisattvas of the past generated the mind of enlightenment and reached perfection.

Budai Tao

If there is anything worth pursuing it must surely be Tao (Truth) there is nothing higher than Tao. Not only can Tao change our destiny and restore the balance in our life, Tao can also bring us the ultimate joy and happiness in life.
